🌴 Featured on PBS HawaiĘ»i – In Hawaiian Hands: The Story of Reggae in HawaiĘ»i

I’m honored to share that I’ve been featured in the PBS HawaiĘ»i documentary “In Hawaiian Hands: The Story of Reggae in HawaiĘ»i”, a powerful and heartfelt journey through the rise and evolution of reggae music in the Islands.

The documentary traces the roots of local reggae—from its early foundations to the uniquely Hawaiian “Jawaiian” sound—and how it became the soundtrack of island life.

🎶 Part I: Roots of Creation

Part I of the series, titled “Roots of Creation,” explores how the very first local artists embraced and reinterpreted reggae with aloha spirit, blending Caribbean rhythms with Hawaiian soul.

As a proud member of Cool Runnings, HawaiĘ»i’s first reggae band based in WaikÄ«kÄ« during the early days of this musical movement, I was blown away to watch my old bandmates share their memories, tell their stories, and bring the music from that incredible time back to life. Their words inspired me deeply — so much that I’ll soon be recording a separate video to share my own story, personal reflections, and behind-the-scenes memories of the band and our journey through HawaiĘ»i’s reggae roots.
Stay tuned — it’s coming soon.

🎥 About the Documentary

“In Hawaiian Hands” celebrates the cultural exchange that shaped an entire generation of island music. It’s more than a documentary—it’s a living archive of our musical heritage.

I’m deeply grateful to PBS HawaiĘ»i for including me in this project and helping preserve the legacy of the musicians who laid the foundation for today’s island sound.
