I’m thrilled to announce my new teaching position at Kildevældskolen. Starting on August 5, 2024, I’ll be teaching music and English. Additionally, I’ll be teaching Christianity, history, and even math, which I find truly rewarding.
A few days after my interview, the school leader called to let me know they were moving forward with my application. I had some important documents to complete and sign. A few days later, I received the call: “We’d like to offer you the teaching position here, if you’re still interested.” I felt proud, calm, happy, fulfilled, excited, and without hesitation, I enthusiastically said, “YES!”
What made everything feel official and real was when I was invited back to the school last week for a visit to meet my new class of students. It was fantastic! As the school leader escorted me towards them, a few children asked in English, “Are you Albert? Are you from America? How old are you?” Soon more kids caught on, and suddenly I was surrounded by the whole class of about 24 kids, all smiling up at me, showing their love and joy that their new teacher had arrived to say hello.
The tour around the school was enjoyable and impressive. I felt like I had found my home – a school that met all my needs as a music teacher. The music room is amazing: spacious, insulated, bright, filled with musical instruments, well-equipped, and ready for me to explore all possibilities. There’s also a dance studio, recording studio, and plenty of spaces for live performances. The school’s theater, cultural center, auditorium, and basketball court – where students sometimes sing morning songs together – all added to the warm welcome and sense of belonging I felt.
I am ready and super excited to get started. Thank you God for answering my prayers. Thank you Casper (my new boss) for choosing me and trusting that I am the person most qualified for the job. And thank you to my wife, Lone for supporting me during my recent and slightly stressful time looking and looking for the next & hopefully final school to teach. Let’s have an amazing summer together and I’ll be totally revved up and ready for this new chapter in my life as an educator.
